The Letter
Letter from CGK-Köln elders to Dr. Terry Jones on January 25th, 2008
Cologne, January 25th, 2008
Dear Dr. Terry,
Each of us elders who has participated in developing below list loves this church. Each of us is aware of the things you and all of you have done for our lives, the importance that you are our spiritual father, and also, how much you have suffered for this church. Each of us knows you are the apostle and founder of this church, and that you have assigned us to the position of elders. Finally we are also aware how much we owe to the other pastors. Nevertheless, as a church we need to face reality: We have sunk deeper than any other church in Germany or Europe we might have ever heard of. We altogether, without having noticed that, have permitted for many years being subdued by the powers, which we are fighting against, in Cologne and Germany. We have fallen from a high calling and spiritual position to deep spiritual wizardry and a totalitarian sectarian system.
The reason is, that we - as a church - have tried to enforce the fulfillment of the promise by our own power with human means. By doing this we have fallen from grace and reached a condition which is described Galatians. Together we have become the victim of strong spiritual wizardry; its main runners were women who were under the authority of weak men.
Instead of being a church of mature Christians with a freewill, who hear from God and who are leaded by Him, we have turned the Kingdom of God – in the name of God – to a system of fear (of mistakes, of treachery, of loosing the calling, etc.), to a system of perdition and humiliation ('you are a shame', a looser, you are no good) and to a system of bondage (slavish obedience to human beings). This system eats the lives of its servants and victimizes their children.
To repent and become again the church, which God wants to have through us, after a common outlook with two thirds of the elders, we are requesting the following:
- The pastors clarify with the rest of the elders, with the complete leadership and with the AA-team that there are no 'traitors'. The group signing this letter is working together with the pastors on a solution for this church, and Pastor Terry has agreed to this with them. The spying and observance of elders via the pastors, as well as the interference into conversations has to stop. Should this happen again, the members of the church are allowed to politely reject these trials immediately on the spot.
- All drawbacks have to get examined and clarified. This refers to all varieties of abuse, control, manipulation or bondage which we have fallen into. This also refers to the financial accusations in question. The elders will get directly involved into these matters. They will guard over them and help with words and deeds.
- As a church we will report directly to Rick Joyner about what has happened and ask for his advice. He had warned several times in public and in the church about such developments. Additionally, as a church we will seek external help with a spiritual ministry experienced in means of spiritual abuse in churches, either at home or abroad. We will involve this ministry into the recovery process of the church.
- The freedom in the church has to get re-established. This refers to the set points: which amounts of money have to be given when, the number of home visits, ministries, vacations, participations in the services and meetings, etc. People with a leading function have to be asked which charges, which tasks and which ministries they want to keep and which ones they would like to lay down. The living communities have to get dissolved. The children and young adults return to their parents. A return to a normal social life has to be guaranteed. The number of meetings in the church has to get considerably reduced in order to set free true ministry. Excessive working hours (more than 50 hours) for people in full-time ministry have to get reduced, there has to be one day off (being completely without any church-related task) per week, and a yearly vacation of three weeks has to be facilitated. The church / LJH / TS and not person involved, are responsible to find stand-ins for holidays or sickness. Overtimes have to get agreed with the people involved.
- All pastors and elders have to deal more closely with what has happened to all of us. For aberrations they are responsible for they have to repent, and they have to do penance individually before the elders and AA-Team for their wrongdoings as well. The same things have to happen in Gainesville.
- Each married couple of pastors (Rob & Erica, John & Georgette, Luke & Anna, Wayne & Stephanie, Ludger & Heike) has to take a few months time off from today onwards in order to get a distance, to seek God and to rebuild their families. They have to seek professional help, recovery and advice, in particular concerning spiritual abuse – also in regards to how long this time off period should last. The church will support them in this.
- Pastor Terry has to displace Pastor Sylvia directly of her ministry. She will no longer have any responsibilities or authority to give any orders, she will no longer receive any reports. This will be announced in leadership meetings to the leadership and to their children. She has to seek external counseling (ignis, Rick Joyner, Harwig Henkel or others) until her complete healing will be confirmed by a therapist. The same applies to all other pastor couples in Cologne, Gainesville and New Orleans.
- The academy as an abuse-center has to get closed down immediately. The ladiesand finance conference have to get canceled. The flight canceling costs have to get reimbursed.
- Repentance involves compensation and reconciliation. Damages have to get balanced out. The church (pastors and elders) has to apologize with members and former members whom they have wronged. The elders name members who have left the church because of abuse and other wrong developments. They will get the chance to come back but they will not – in any way – be pushed.
- The church seeks the authentic, original church leadership structure so that this or similar will not be repeated. Wisdom lies in the number of advisors. The elders inhere in a God-given guard ministry in the church. They will apply this in future, being responsible before God and the church and they have to get involved in all decisions.
Signed: The elder-couples
